AOG's downstream division completes acquisition of BP's LPG distribution businesses in South Africa

01 August 2013

AOG's downstream energy division, Oryx Energies, has completed the acquisition of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) distribution businesses of BP and Masana Petroleum Solutions in which BP had a 45% stake.

The acquisition gives Oryx Energies a leading position in the South African LPG market. The company intends to invest strongly in order to respond to the unmet needs of large parts of the South African population. It also aims to capitalise on its integrated business model, to build a position as a key player in South Africa's broader energy sector, bringing the quality and reliability of products needed to support the country's economic and social development.

The acquisition confirms our commitment to make Oryx Energies one of the most extensive independent energy platforms in sub-Saharan Africa and to promote LPG as a cleaner, more environmentally-friendly and affordable alternative to firewood, charcoal and kerosene across the region.
